The Bite of Oregon Festival 2012 in Portland

The Bite of Oregon 2012 is Portland’s premier culinary waterfront festival. This three day event Foodie Fest highlights Oregon’s culinary prowess.

It is a celebration of Oregon’s food and wine culture. There will be food from some of  Portland’s best restaurants. THE GERRY FRANK’S OREGON CHEF’S TABLE – presented by the Oregonian is an outstanding opportunity to experience small gourmet bites from some of the top chefs from around the state. You can also taste THE BEST OF OREGON’S FOOD CART CUISINE. There will be wine from over 20 wineries that represent Oregon’s diverse micro-climates.

The Bite Festival proceeds have been supporting the Oregon Special Olympics for 29 years. There will be menu items ranging in price from $2 – $10. Proceeds go directly to the Special Olympics of Oregon.

5:45 – 6:45 Iron Chef Oregon Presented by NW Natural Round 1                 Chefs will race the clock and each other to create a masterpiece with a special mystery ingredient on stage in front of the audience, commentators, and judges.

7:30 – 8:30 Iron Chef Oregon Presented by NW Natural Round 2                 Chefs race the clock and each other to create a masterpiece with a special mystery ingredient on stage in front of the audience, commentators, and judges.

 

12:30 – 1:30 Got Beer?                 Come get your beer on and watch Women Enjoying Beer cook up tasty treats using beer and share some beer factoids you never knew you didn’t know1:45 – 2:45 Ken Gordon of Kenny & Zuke’sSee Portland’s Ken Gordon cook up some of the dishes featured in the Oregonian’s Diary of a Diabetic Chef. Learn how a chef fought against diabetes with food- and won!

3:00 – 4:00 Good for What Ales You                 Come get your beer on and watch Women Enjoying Beer cook up tasty treats using beer and share some beer factoids you never knew you didn’t know!

4:30 – 5:30 Iron Chef Oregon                 Presented by NW Natural                                Semi Final                 Final two remaining chefs race the clock and each other to create a masterpiece with a special mystery ingredient on stage in front of the audience, commentators, and judges.

5:45 – 6:45 Sysco’s Foodie Fight: Clash of the Kitchen Titans                 Sysco’s top chefs compete against each other with Special Olympics Athletes as their sous chefs in a fun, fast-paced foodie fight!

7:30 – 8:30 Iron Chef Oregon                 Presented by NW Natural                                FINAL                 The remaining chef attempts to battle it out against reigning chef David Anderson. Don’t miss the action!

 

12:15 – 1:15 Think Outside the Pint
Finalists will wow us with an entrée using beer as one of the ingredients. Who thought beer was just a great beverage?1:30 – 2:45 Sweet Students of PDXStudents from Portland’s culinary schools race the clock to put together a sugar showpiece and plated dessert with a surprise ingredient! Come smell what Portland’s future chefs are cooking.3:00 – 4:00 Military Throwdown Presented by Shun Knives                 Chefs from different branches of US Military compete in a salute to good food. Support your troops by cheering them on in this patriotic tribute!

4:15 – 5:15 Sysco’s Foodie Fight: Clash of the Kitchen Titans                 Sysco’s top chefs compete against each other with Special Olympics Athletes as their sous chefs in a fun, fast-paced foodie fight!
