This year’s event will be held at thewhere the famous “Spruce Goose” lives. The Hughes H-4 Hercules  a.k.a. “Spruce Goose” is a prototype of a heavy transport aircraft designed and built by the Hughes Aircraft company.  The aircraft made its only flight on November 2, 1947. It was made out of wood since there was a wartime raw material restriction on the use of aluminum. It was nicknamed the “Spruce Goose” by critics, even though it was made almost entirely of birch.
