Head over to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion  in Millennium Park designed by architect Frank Gehry this summer. It serves as the summer residence of the  Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the Grant Park Music Festival, the nation’s only remaining free outdoor classical music series.

This magnificent venue hosts a wide range of music series and annual performing arts events.

 

Millennium Park is part Grant Park. The pavilion has a capacity of 11,000.

 

The popular Downtown Sound series is expanding to showcase contemporary/new music and electronic artists (formerly Loops and Variations) and world music artists in addition to its eclectic mix of cutting-edge indie rock, pop bands and rock veterans. Concerts are now scheduled Mondays and Thursdays, June 1–July 23 at 6:30pm (except where noted) and headliners include San Fermin, Poi Dog Pondering, Matthew Sweet and King Sunny Ade.

Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz presents commissioned projects by Steve Coleman, Juli Wood and Caroline Davis, Greg Ward and a salute to the AACM’s 50th Anniversary. Concerts are Thursdays, August 6-27 at 6:30pm and each begins with a short set by young, aspiring musicians from Chicago-area high schools as part of the Jazz Institute of Chicago’s Jazz Links Ensembles. The Made in Chicago lineup will be announced soon. All performances are FREE, at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
