Mount Vernon, located near Alexandria, Virginia, was the plantation home of the first President of the United States, George Washington. The mansion is built of wood in neoclassical Georgian architectural style, and the estate is located on the banks of the Potomac River. Mount Vernon was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Make plans to attend the Mount Vernon Spring Wine Festival.

WHEN: May 17-19, 2014

Mount Vernon’s Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour celebrates the history of wine in Virginia with candlelit tours of the Mansion, including the rarely-open basement where Washington stored his wine, and live jazz on the east lawn overlooking the scenic Potomac River.

Guests can sample wines from 16 Virginia wineries, learn about the successes and failures of our Founding Father’s wine endeavors, and meet “George and Martha Washington” on the Mansion’s piazza.

Concessions by the Mount Vernon Inn are available for purchase. Outside food and beverage are not allowed.

Advance ticket purchase is recommended for this popular event. Tickets are $38 per person, fruit and cheese boxes are $26 each, and VIP tables (for up to 12 people) are $1,000.

NEW – Wine Festival Express: Round trip transportation from the King Street Metro Station is available for Friday, May 17. Shuttle tickets are $30 per person and do not include event admission. Shuttles depart Alexandria at 5:30 p.m. sharp and return from Mount Vernon at 9:15 p.m.

Friday & Saturday, May 17 & 18 – General Admission is SOLD OUT.
VIP Tables are still available for Friday, May 17.

Mount Vernon’s Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour celebrates the history of wine in Virginia.

Mount Vernon, is a Georgian structure that is located near Alexandria Virginia. It was George Washington’s plantation home and is a National Historic Landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neoclassical structure is located on the banks of the Potomac River.

At the Spring Wine Festival, there will be candlelit tours of the mansion with live jazz on the east lawn overlooking the Potomac. Visit the wine cellar and learn about George Washinton’s passion for wine.
